This model is part of the exclusive Monash 3D anatomy series, a comprehensive series of human dissections reproduced with ultra-high resolution color 3D printing.

This 3D printed model captures a dissection in which the calvaria and brain have been removed to expose the floors of the anterior and middle cranial fossae. The midbrain has been dissected at the level of the cerebellar tentorium, and the superior colliculi, cerebral peduncles, and substantia nigra can be identified on the surface of the cross section.

Anterior to the midbrain, the vertebral artery rising from the posterior cranial fossa and dividing into the posterior cerebral arteries can be clearly identified.
