Erler Zimmer, anatomical model of lung lobule, magnified 20-fold, reference G420

The secondary pulmonary lobule is the smallest lung subdivision that can be recognized macroscopically (to the naked eye). It consists of the lobular bronchiole and lobular artery (which carries oxygen-poor blood into the lung), as well as lymphatic vessels. Lobular bronchiole, lobular artery and lymphatics are immersed in the intralobular connective.

The veins (which carry oxygen-rich blood) and part of the lymphatic vessels run into another part of the secondary lobule: the peripheral part, the interlobular septum. The coarsely conical shape of the secondary lobule has a diameter at the base of 15-20 mm (so it is distinguishable on high-resolution CT examination), which is crucial for the nosographic framing of some lung changes.

This magnificent microscopic anatomical model is a representation, magnified about 20-fold, of a section of the lungs.

Bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli are faithfully represented with pulmonary and bronchial blood vessels.

The Erler Zimmer G420 anatomical lung lobule model is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is very hard, lightweight and corrosion resistant. PVC resists reactions with acids, alcohol gasoline, and hydrocarbons.
